Bontle Modiselle

Bontle Moloi, previously Modiselle, is a leader of Dance & Dance Culture in Africa through multiple disciplines including – Choreographer, Dancer and Performance Director. It is in Dance that Bontle has found her true identity. It is through the the art of Dance, whether as a performer, choreographer or Director that Bontle found her feet in the entertainment industry, and more importantly where she found her purpose and passion on a personal and professional level.

Bontle established herself early on as one of the continents most prominent performers, winning “Best Female Dancer” in 2007 and Runner-Up in “Best Small Group” category in 2009 at “Masters of Rhythm”, which at the time as the biggest Dance Competition in South Africa. Most recently, her love for dance and her ability to execute and direct at the highest level landed her a position as the lead choreographer for Netflix Original production “JIVA!” making it a first for an African woman.

Due to her vast skill set and her natural ability to execute a range of artistic and entertainment based disciplines effortlessly, Bontle has found her career taking multiple shapes over the last 16 years while operating and delivering at the highest level.

In 2015, Bontle was cast as the lead female character in Africa’s First Dance Feature Film – “Hear Me Move”, her performance in this film landed her a nomination for “Best Actress” African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) which is what propelled Bontle’s career into the mainstream entertainment industry.

The following year (2016) is when we saw Bontle’s true diversity as an entertainer start taking shape, as she hosted a range of mainstream television shows – Showville (2016), Club 808 (2017), Ultimate House Party (2018) & One Mic (2019) all the while venturing into Radio Broadcasting in 2018 as a Co-Host on YFM’s “The Rodeo” with broadcast legend – Siyabonga ‘Scoop’ Ngwekazi.

As part of her progression as an artist and entrepreneur, Bontle launched her Performance & Production Company – Bontle Ba Afrika in 2017. To date, the business has executed work on some of Africa’s most notable productions – choreographing talent, performing on and/or hosting some of the largest Live Productions, Corporate Events & Recorded & Broadcasted Productions, like “Lip Sync Battle”, “MTV Africa Music Awards”, “Metro FM Awards”, “Channel O” “GLO CAF Awards (Nigeria), “MTV Europe Music Awards” and most recently the 27th South African Music Awards (2021) – #SAMA27, where she had the honour of hosting the broadcasted production on SABC.

Bontle Ba Afrika has also worked alongside some of the Africa’s most recognised artists, choreographing performances and productions for Salief Keita, D’Banj, Wizkid, Iyanya and Awilo Longomba to mention a few.

With a following that tops 5 Million collectively, Bontle has managed to work with some of the largest brands in the world, offering high level content creation and creative direction through ambassadorships & influencer campaigns.

Even through there is only 24 hours in the day fo run all, Bontle still managed to find the time to express her creativity through music, by partnering up with her Husband, prominent South African Rapper/Artist “Priddy Ugly” to form the music collective “Rick Jade”. Together, they released a 2 track debut EP titled “I want Something New” in 2019, which as received well by the public and fans alike. This saw the group later release a 10 track project titled “Da New Africa – D.N.A) and have amassed over 2 Million Video Views on YouTube to date.

It is no doubt that Bontle Modiselle Moloi is a force to be reckoned with, her ability to glide between disciplines and execute on the highest level is something not only rare on the continent but across the world. Her consistency over the last 16 years has proven that as an African Woman in entertainment your voice is important, your action is needed and your identity is yours to own.
